The careers service at St Michael's Church of England School achieved the Quality in Careers Standard on the 15th December 2017 in recognition of the high standard of the school's careers provision.

The Accreditation Board commended the high standard of careers provision, led by an experienced and innovative careers leader, which has also recently been endorsed by Ofsted. This Award stands for 3 years until December 2020. Please click on the image above to find out more about the standard.

Careers Guidance and Student Support

Planning individual career pathways is important. The school has a dedicated careers section which is situated in the LRC on the third floor. A personal adviser offers independent and impartial information, advice and guidance for pupils from year 7 to year 11. The personal adviser can assist and provide quality careers guidance to help young people identify career and job goals, and the learning required to achieve them. These goals can be related to choices for post 16 education options such as college, apprenticeships, CVs and gaining employment. Appointments can be made by dropping in to see the adviser to arrange a convenient time for a guidance interview. The personal adviser is fully qualified to level 4 in Advice and Guidance. The personal adviser will ensure that St Michael’s young people have the best opportunity to participate in education, training and/or employment, through the provision of high quality transparent and independent careers guidance and transition support. To access the school's careers policy, please click here.
